From Gregory Beck Sculpture Studio – The September 28th 2012 Figurative Sculpture Workshop was a great success. We had a wonderful group, a lot of fun and the results were very impressive. I will be posting new dates for upcoming workshops in the near future.

Beck’s bronze sculptures ‘Windswept’ and ‘Renaissance’ are on exhibit, along with other Texas Society of Sculptors member’s artwork, at the French Legation Museum in Austin, TX. There will be a TSOS exhibition at the museum in the month of November. The exhibition will be held in conjunction with the East Austin Studio Tour.

ANNOUNCING TWO NEW SEPTEMBER FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE WORKSHOPS
Gregory Beck will be conducting Figurative Sculpture Workshops at the Pamela Lindley Art Studio, Fort Worth, Texas. The summer series of workshops through September, will be a hands-on session in an upbeat-relaxed studio atmosphere, allowing emphasis on individual attention.
The Figurative Sculpture Workshops are 3-day sessions, Fridays through Sundays. The 3-day June & July sessions were a great success!! We had wonderful groups and the results were impressive.

Beck’s “Honor For All” Veterans Memorial Unveiled

Cedar park, TX – Hundreds visited Cedar Park Saturday afternoon for the unveiling of Veterans Memorial Park. The city unveiled the memorial, designed and sculpted by Fort Worth artist Gregory Beck, before a crowd of more than 500 visitors that took part in a ceremony commemorating the occasion. The etched-granite memorial dedicated to each branch of the military with a seven foot tall bronze soldier on top was draped with a parachute for the unveiling. Speakers representing each branch of the military spoke on what it means to be a veteran.

The memorial sits at the highest point in all of Cedar Park. Standing 22 feet tall the memorial weighs in at 40,000 pounds, requiring special engineering to ensure the hilltop could support it. Many friends and family attended the unveiling and dedication. “I want to thank each and every one and I hope you enjoyed the wonderful and touching ceremonies as much as I did. This has been years in the making and I couldn’t have done it without your support.A very special thanks to Deep In the Heart foundry for the great job they did on the enlargement, mold making and casting of the bronze soldier. It was especially difficult to produce this piece on time due to the devastating wildfires in the area and the impact it had on the employees, friends and families in and around Bastrop.” GRB

Paintings by Gregory Beck featured at Municipal Grand Opening

La Vernia, Texas –The La Vernia Municipal Development Department had it’s grand opening on October 12, 2010. The LVMDD is an economic development branch of the City that promotes business development, retention and recruitment. State Representative John Kuemple was on hand as well as representatives from the U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar’s office, the Governor’s office, State Senator Judith Zafferinni, along with County and local elected officials. The LVMDD has established, as one of its many goals, the promotion of the arts in the area. Paintings by artists Shelly Henderson and Flores were exhibited along with abstract works by Gregory Beck.

Beck’s “Relationship II” accepted into NSS’s online LOVE exhibition

New York, New York – The National Sculpture Society is pleased to present LOVE. This on-line exhibition features the works of 61 members of NSS. LOVE is part of National Sculpture Society’s continuing series of on-line exhibitions. The show explores the many facets of love from the initial sparks of romance to the passion of a physical embrace to the enduring bonds of family. The exhibition includes public monuments as well as miniature works, and the materials run the gamut from traditional bronze, to carved wood and marble, to terracotta. The styles and subject matter reflect the diversity of NSS members.

Beck returns from England…

Gregory and Cheryl completed a three week tour of England. Much of the trip was dedicated to viewing art in the U.K. as part of his focus on the impact of Public Art both contemporary and ancient.

Beck Shows Sculpture at Georgetown Library…

In conjunction with many other members of the Texas Society of Sculptors Gregory is showing three of his early sculptures at the Georgetown Public Library. This is the fourth annual exhibition and has become a great venue for the public that does not usually visit galleries, museums or artist studios to experience the world of sculpture. During the two month exhibition there will be sculpting demonstrations that include interaction between sculptors and the public. If you are in the area please drop by and see some cool art in an very nice setting.

Gregory Beck’s limited edition cast bronze sculpture ‘Introspection’ was honored as Best of Show in the Art of Self exhibition by the Texas Visual Arts Association. The event was held at the TVAA Downtown Gallery in the Plaza of the Americas building in downtown Dallas.
