DANCING ARCH AT CEILO PLACE, FORT WORTH, TEXAS
The re-purposing of a historic Church leads to mixed feelings, as the community feels a certain loss while cautiously accepting the new beginning for a loved icon. The new Race Street presents an ambiance of area revival, artistic expression, and a laid-back Bohemian style life.
The Dancing Arch is a unique artwork crafted from waterjet cut aluminum and custom painted plexiglass panels. Gregory Beck designed the piece with the intention to replace the original church sign and capture the vibe of Race Street's Riverside Community. By adding a colorful tribute to the area, while maintaining elements of the old church, the piece would tie the new venue, the
new community, and the old community together in a visual style. Beck additionally created a subtle internal LED lighting system to mimic candlelight behind colorful stained-glass windows, which enhances the nighttime view.
