SPECIAL PROJECTS
As a multidisciplinary artist, I’m often called upon to take on the unusual—projects others may not be able to do, or simply don’t want to tackle. The work can range from architectural to purely artistic, and every project presents its own unique challenges. More often than not, it also comes with a tight deadline, requiring creative problem-solving, flexibility, and the ability to turn an unconventional idea into reality.
The Safe Door
Historic hardware can often be given a new purpose—even something as substantial as an original safe room door.
To transform this piece into a permanent wall display, the internal locking mechanism, side components, and other unnecessary hardware were removed to reduce its weight. The door was then permanently welded shut, carefully cleaned, and restored to its original appearance.
Custom heavy-duty mounting hardware was fabricated to securely display the door as an architectural feature and lasting reminder of the building’s original history.
Another Brick in the Wall…
Repurposing dozens of historic bricks into shelf-worthy Service Awards presented a unique challenge.
Each salvaged brick was carefully cleaned of old mortar, stabilized, sanded smooth, and fitted with a felt base. Custom graphics were then created and applied to each piece before every award was individually wrapped for presentation.
What began as fragile remnants of the past became meaningful keepsakes—preserving a small piece of history while recognizing exemplary service.
Toast
When a dear friend loses a beloved pet and asks for a sculpture to preserve that memory, it is difficult to say no.
Although animal sculpture is not typically part of my work, creating Toast was a meaningful exception. It was an honor to use my sculptural skills to capture the spirit of a much-loved companion—offering comfort during a difficult time and creating a lasting remembrance that will be treasured for years to come.
PechaKucha Presentation — Nasher Sculpture Center
Twenty slides. Twenty seconds per slide. That’s all you get in a PechaKucha presentation.
It sounds simple until you’re standing in front of an audience and the slides keep advancing whether you’re ready or not. Lose your place, pause too long, or stop for a sip of water and the presentation moves on without you.
I had the honor of being invited to participate—and the added pressure of being the first presenter of the evening.
My theme, “The Art-O-Meter,” was a fast-paced look back at my career, reflecting on the times when life and art were in the “Light” and when they went “Dark.” From a gym teacher destroying my childhood drawings to eventually sculpting in Europe, I tried to cover a lifetime of experiences in just a few minutes.
Try it sometime. You may be surprised at how quickly a life can pass—and how many of the things that once seemed like tragedies eventually become only temporary chapters in a much larger story.
Dragons Eggs

DISASTER RELIEF
Mother Nature can do a lot of damage in a hurry. Last January, straight-line winds blew out this custom “stained glass” pane. It took months to recreate, but the new piece was finally installed just in time for the grand opening of the newly restored Maren Grove Apartments, Fort Worth, TX
Style Gone Commercial

Band Bling
A three-dimensional, sculpted and polychromed recreation of the Royal Sons logo, transformed into an oversized “rapper-style” necklace and created as a stage prop for a live performance.
3D CG Renderings
Created from basic house plan PDF files, these detailed 3D renderings and animated fly-arounds give the builder a clear visual tool for communicating design concepts with clients prior to the start of construction.
