1996 LX450 Digital Illustration

Just thought I’d share a digital sketch of my soon-to-be classic vehicle. Bought her new and she’s been a workhorse. Although I still work in traditional mediums, I really appreciate the ability to create digital drawing and painting. Enjoy!

TEXRail Art Has Been Installed...

My designs for the TEXRail DFW Airport North Entry Station Public Art Project have been installed. Six graphics placed throughout the seating areas of the loading platform. TEXRail commissioned individual artists to create artwork for each of the train station locations along the rail line between Fort Worth and DFW Airport. My designs highlight the many historic locations and family fun attractions in the Grapevine area. If you haven’t tried the new TEXRail system, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Fun little Cowboy sketch - Enjoy!

I like to keep my sketching skills sharpened even if it’s on my iPad. Drawing whatever comes to mind is a relaxing way to reach my zone. This animation demonstrates the building of a sketch. Just for fun! Enjoy.

Cielo Place Grand Re-Opening…

12-15-2021, Fort Worth, TX - It was an honor to have my artwork recognized at the Cielo Place Grand Re-Opening celebration this morning, The presentation included the many other people and organizations who participated in making this unique mixed-income housing community a reality.  My art work was featured in the event brochure as well as being presented an Historic Brick Award, for my contribution to this project. Many thanks to Alice Cruz, Saigebrook Development, LLC. And Megan Lasch, O-SDA Industries, LLC for the opportunity to create and install my “Dancing Arch”, an exterior sculpture and the Historic Vault Door Wall Hanging.

Unique Awards!

Cielo Place Historic Brick Awards - A unique Grand Opening award for the those who participated in the transformation of the old Baptist church into a great living space for those who really need it. Each historic brick had the grout chiseled off, all sides sanded, sealed, touched up, and a custom graphic applied.

Cielo Place Vault Door Art...

Cielo Place, Fort Worth, TX - It’s not everyday you get to modify and hang an historic vault door. After a lot of tender lovin’ care, gutting the internal mechanism, framing and designing the heavy duty mounting system we hung the old church vault door close to the original location as a work of art. Being an artist sometimes is just about being a Fixer. I love these kind of projects. Meeting the challenge of a project like this is a big part of the reward.

Happy Anniversary Arts Fort Worth!

November 30th, Fort Worth, TX - Happy Anniversary Arts Fort Worth! I was honored to be invited to join the staff of Arts Fort Worth (and fellow Artists) for the Fort Worth City Council’s official proclamation of the 20th anniversary of Public Art in Fort Worth. Presented by Mayor Mattie Parker.

Cielo Place “Dancing Arch” Art Project...

October 28, 2021, Fort Worth, TX

After months of slow downs due to weather and supply shortages, construction finally progressed on the Cielo Place Apartments located in the renovated historical Riverside Baptist Church. I was commissioned to design and install the “Dancing Arch” art project. This unique artwork, crafted from water-jet cut aluminum and custom painted plexiglass panels, was designed to replace the original church sign and capture the vibe of the Race Street’s, Riverside Community. I created a subtle internal LED lighting system to mimic candlelight behind colorful stained glass windows, which enhances the nighttime view.

Special thanks to Alice Cruz, Saigebrook Development | O-SDA Industries, for leading the way in developing this concept. Also, Aaron Smith, BSM Paintworks for his work as an expert painter, Jim Clarke, Alternative Cutting Methods for his cutting & welding expertise and Alan Smith for his fabrication skills.

Dancing Arch Light Test

Dancing Arch was created to replace the existing sign cabinet with an artful tribute to the historic Fabricating a custom designed light strip consisting of 30 Warm Light LEDs per foot will give the arch the appearance of a stained glass church window with the gentle glow of candles inside. The lower side panels will have the same light treatment installed just before final installation.

After months of planning, fabrication, and painting we start the final assembly. The upper portion of the artwork is hoisted into position and lowered into the custom support base which will be placed on the 9’ tall monument base. Careful planning has paid off as everything fits together perfectly. Next step - installing the LED lighting system into the space just below the highly polished plexiglass panel.

Cielo Place Public Art Project

Here is a short video showing a snippet of the behind the scenes progress on my Cielo Place Public Art Project, titled “Dancing Arch”. I was commissioned to replace the old Riverside Baptist Church sign, at the corner of Race and Riverside, with bright eye-catching artwork. The old church is in the progress of being lovingly converted into apartments with emphasis on maintaining the original stained glass windows. My design is meant to capture the neighborhood atmosphere, while incorporating an architectural element of the church, as a tribute to this historic structure. The artwork will be gently lighted from within to project the appearance of candles glowing behind stained glass. Installation information will be posted here when finished.
